Vans, Vans, Vans!

Here at Elev8 Access we are well known for our state of the art fleet of access platforms with incredible working height.  What you may not know is that in 2020 we added van mounted platforms to our hire fleet.  They have been so popular with our self-drive cherry picker customers that we quickly invested in lots more!

We have a range of van mounted platforms, starting at 13.2 metres of working height all the way up to 16.5 metres high.  If your project requires greater working height, we have a selection of truck mounted MEWPs including smaller access platforms mounted on a 3.5-ton chassis which are perfect for our self-drive cherry picker customers.

Van mounted platform are perfect for high level work situated on the highways.  Although they are compact, they can deliver up to 16.5 metres of working height (Versalift LAT160-F) and a lateral outreach of up to 8.4 metres (Versalift VTL-135-F).   Our customers like to use van mounted platforms because they have:

• Plenty of options on a 3.5-ton chassis, handy for self-drive van mount hire as most standard driving licences cover this class of vehicle.
• Plenty of storage space for tools, equipment, and materials.
• Some of our van mount platforms are fitted with racking.
• Spare payloads ranging from 325Kg up to 1500Kg (5t Eurotel ET36NF)
• Compact stabilisers which don’t require lots of set up space.
• Fitted with beacons and chevrons for use on the highways.
• Cage capacity of up to 230 Kg.
• We also have van mounted platforms with plastic MEWP baskets offering 1Kv of protection, ideal if you need to perform electrical work at height.
• To assist with maintaining good hand hygiene some of our van mounted platforms have hand wash basins fitted.

Our van mounted platforms are available for hire with one of our qualified operators, or if you have your own IPAF trained operator you can hire them on a self-drive basis.  It is a simple process to hire a van mounted platform for self-drive hire, you will need:

• Driving licence suitable for the vehicle class. 3.5T vehicles are included on most standard driving licences.
• A qualified operator who holds a current IPAF category 1b
• The correct insurance to drive the van mounted platform, as well as public liability and hired in plant insurance. If you don’t already have this insurance in place our hire desk team can assist you.

We will familiarise your operator with the MEWP upon delivery or collection.  Please remember to bring a face mask for self drive cherry picker collections and familiarisations.

Van mounted platforms are a very useful way of safely performing high level work on the highways.  Our customers use them for a multitude of tasks including telecoms work such as 5G cell installation; highways lighting installation & maintenance; Christmas decoration installation and removal; building maintenance and high-level cleaning.    If you wish to hire a van mounted platform to install Christmas lighting and decorations please book early, demand for van mounted platforms in November and December is exceptionally high.
