Supporting high-level glazing projects across the UK

Buildings look magnificent when lots of glass is used in their design. However, repairing or replacing high-level glazing can be challenging for tall buildings and glass roofs. With specialist lifting equipment and years of experience providing safe work at height,  the Elev8 team are here to help with your high-level glazing projects.

THE ADVANTAGES OF POWERED ACCESS PLATFORMS

There is an access platform for every site

Every building has a different design and is set in a unique environment.  There is a suitable access platform for every glazing project, whether it is a city centre skyscraper, if an obstruction makes access difficult or if you need to install glass inside high level atriums.  The two most common types of powered access platforms we supply for glazing projects are:

  • Truck mounted access platforms providing up to 104 metres of working height and 38 metres of lateral outreach. They can boom over other structures or even roofs allowing glass engineers to work safely at height.
  • Track mounted access platforms wrap up very small and are perfect for providing safe work at height in areas where access is restricted. Elev8’s tracked access MEWPs can be powered by electric, which means they can safely work inside without creating fumes and are perfect for providing safe work at height for glazing projects situated in high level atriums.
Replacing high level glazing with S56XR MEWP in Leeds

Save time with a powered access platform

Access platforms are quick to set up and can be precisely positioned to allow glazing engineers to comfortably work alongside the building.  Hire a MEWP (mobile elevating work platform) with one of our experienced operators and you can let them provide safe work at height whilst you concentrate on removing or installing glass, speeding up the whole project.

MEWPS are safe

Elev8’s fleet of truck mounted access platforms can provide safe work at height up to 104 metres in the air.  MEWPs have permeant fixed guardrails as well as inbuilt safety systems such as self-levelling, load cells, height restrictors and emergency lowering systems.  And with MEWP cage capacities up to 600kg our powered access platforms can safely lift glazing engineers, as well as the equipment and glazing panels they need.

Precise positioning of the MEWP cage

The MEWP cage can be precisely positioned exactly where you need to work, and can be quickly and safely moved between work positions without having to return to ground.

Access platforms have outreach

Powered access platforms don’t just reach upwards, they reach across and over too, so if you need to replace glass on a building with an obstruction in the way or reach over an atrium roof, a powered access platform can safely boom you right over to reach the glass you need to replace.

Why use two pieces of lifting equipment when one will do?

For some glazing projects you can save money & time using ONE PIECE OF LIFTING EQUIPMENT to safely lift glazing panels and provide your engineers with safe work at height.   The MEWPs in our fleet have  safe working loads of up to 600kg enabling them to safely lift your glazing engineers as well as the glass and tools they need to complete their project.  Larger glazing units can be secured to the outside of the MEWP cage using a lifting frame or lifted outside of the MEWP cage using a cage winch.  You can find out more about lifting with MEWPs here.
