The Elev8 team are absolutely over the moon at winning the Corporate Special Recognition award from The Children’s Hospital Charity!
A cause close our hearts, The Children’s Hospital Charity supports enhancements to Sheffield Children’s Hospital over and above the NHS provision. Just one of three specialist children’s hospitals in the UK, Sheffield Children’s offers a broad range of services from emergency care through to supporting families and young people.
Every year businesses, schools, community groups, families and individuals sponsor snowflakes. Snowflakes are Christmas lights which are installed on Sheffield Children’s Hospital, Sheffield City Hall and in Chesterfield town centre.
The money raised supports specialist treatment at the hospital by funding life-saving equipment, new facilities, art workshops, and vital research, which changes paediatric care for thousands of children from across the world.
Over the last six years the Elev8 team have supported this amazing Charity by volunteering their time to install the snowflakes. Last year’s appeal raised over an epic £300,000 and helped to make the new helipad for the hospital’s emergency department a reality.
Alongside three other companies, Elev8 were nominated by the charity team for the award and put before a judging panel to decide the winner.
On award night the MC Alex Gardner said ‘Elev8 staff give up their weekends to install the snowflakes and take them down, they’re always happy and hardworking – waving to patients as they work. Without their skills and effort, we simply would not be able to put up the Snowflakes and the project wouldn’t be the success that it is!’
The award was a huge surprise, and we are absolutely thrilled with it. We got in touch with Sophie, Corporate Fundraising Manager at The Children’s Hospital Charity to find out more;
“We genuinely could not run the Snowflakes project without you guys, it is incredible what is achieved in such a short space of time and the time the team put into it not only on install weekends but planning beforehand is simply amazing. We could not be more grateful for the support we receive and can’t wait to continue working with you all for many years of successful snowflake seasons!”
This year will be the sixth year that Elev8 have installed the snowflakes for this appeal. Over the years many team members have donated their time by volunteering to install the snowflakes and we have donated some of the access equipment required for the installation and removal of the snowflakes. The Children’s Hospital Charity is our charity of choice, and we have even branded our Ruthmann T510HF powered access platform with their logo.
I’ve been involved in this project since it started six years ago. Over this time it has grown from installing 100 snowflakes on one building, to installing 350 plus snowflakes on multiple sites. It’s such a rewarding project bringing Christmas cheer to Sheffield and raising money for a very worthy charity. The Elev8 team and I are proud to have supported it over so many years”.
